Master Catalog for Local Express Partners



The Local Express has a feature that allows its partners to maintain a central database with all the product data, and update the catalogs of individual stores from this central base, called the Master Catalog.

What is the Master Catalog?

The Master Catalog is a special feature that allows simultaneous changes in all of the partner’s stores catalog by making a single change in the Master Catalog. The Master Catalog is a store configured in the Local Express Administrator dashboard that has a Master Catalog type and can’t be used as a regular store. The Master Catalog is hidden from the stores list and the customers can’t reach the Master Catalog Store.

The purpose of the Master Catalog is to have a main Catalog database where the partner can store and maintain the product data, which refers to all the other partner’s stores. The main feature of the Master Catalog is to make changes to the same items in several stores at once by changing only one item in the Master Catalog.

Note: There can be more than one Master Catalog for one partner.

For example, the partner has 22 stores and has an "apple" product. You need to move this product to the "Produce-Fresh Fruits" department and categories in all 22 stores. Using the Master Catalog, you can just update the department and the category of this product in the Master Store, and the product will be automatically updated in all 22 stores.
